Agricultural education within reach was my project in the first semester of my junior year. In the early stage of the project, we designed with architectural elements as anchor points, and finally chose ramps as the main design element.
Subsequently, we chose the site - Beijing Forestry University, hoping to explore how to achieve more efficient and accessible agricultural education through building construction under the condition of high land value, and expand students' learning abilities on this site.
Our strategy is mainly divided into three parts, two of which are the main strategies for the construction of the two parts:
1. Greenhouse (Practice and Exhibition) "Invitation Tea Party"
The overall volume of the building is large, without clear zoning, and the large volume is mostly composed of mixed small blocks, in order to target the diverse needs of plants and specialize them. The conditions of each greenhouse are similar, mainly controlled by flexible building blocks to distinguish the contrast between light and temperature.
2. The original functions of the school were unclear and space was wasted - using open sharing platforms and exhibition halls (discussion and exhibition) to increase flow and promote stay time. Simultaneously utilizing corridors, walls, and stairs to create a winding and isolated space, separated from other functional areas. The corridor becomes a part of the flow line, serving as a medium connecting functional areas and enhancing the continuity of the building.
3. Classroom (teaching and discussion)
The traditional classroom used to lack students' desire for communication, with only theoretical teaching and low learning efficiency, resulting in poor student interest. Through bonfire style teaching, the centripetal nature of the space is enhanced. And plant green plants inside the space as natural teaching aids, such as soil holding areas.
